Ellis-Van-Crevald Disease


This syndrome has a technical term. It is known as "chondroectodermal dysplasia."
It causes short limbs, extra fingers, extra toes, and prenatal tooth growth.

Symptoms
Some of the symptoms of this disease are cleft lip. also undescended testicle occurs and is when the testicles do not drop into the scrotum like they are supposed to. Another thing that happens is there can be extra fingers and they can have a limited range of motion. they also may have mail problems along with short amrs legs and a short height. they will also have hair problems and different tooth deformations.

Who gets this disease

this disease is very rare in the normal population but the Amish people of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania have the highest rate of this disease.

how offten it occures

this disease occures in about 1 in every 60.000 to 200,000 people and is hard to give a better estimte as it is not very common in the normal population

How long do people survive with this

If the person with this disease survives infancy then they have the normal life expetency as anyother person.

Cause of the Ellis-van Crevald disease

This disease in inherited from the parents and comes from deffects in the EVC and EVC2 genes.

Cure for Ellis-Van Crevald disease

there is no cure for this disease but modern medicine can treat most of the problems and complications that come along with this disease
